Marseille computer lab.

It stinks to know that for these two hours of internet each we have paid about eight dollars... five euros. Today we traveled into Marseille town center... its a bit dirty but neat. We met a friend, Bec, from Australia at our hostel and hung out with her all day yesterday. She was real fun and down to earth... We didnt do much here in Marseille besides visit the beach, although we did get asked out by some ¨Francky¨ character that worked at our favorite panini stand on the beach. Haha. Bec and I (Caitlin) also got asked out to an Irish pub from some men in our hostel... oh my. We stayed in for the night, ate, read, had a glass of cheap wine with our meal, and hit the sack around eleven or midnight. Anna and I have found a new weakness.... Maltesers. They are the European version of Whoppers and they are delicious.... they may be the death of us. If not that, the ice cream here. Today we are going to walk around the street markets more and try to find some fun African influenced stuff to look at it. We love more than Anything to hear all your comments; and we apologize for not responding. Hope to check in tomorrow at our new hostel in Nice!!!

The beautiful beaches of Marseille.... windy as all heck, but beautiful. We have spent our afternoons getting lunch at the local panini/kebab stands along the beach and laying on the rocky coast.

A few days in Provence

We have finished a book each and almost completed our knitting.... thats right we are tired. We both would agree that Albi has been one of the most enjoyable experiences thus far. After discovering a free jazz concert in the small town, we sat down to a nice cafe and listened to the singer bellow notes in spanish, french, english, and italian. It was beautiful. Now we are exploring the sites of the Provence region, included the place where Van Gogh painted his genious works of art. We have great pictures of Cafe Noir to prove it. There will be pictures soon. Peace in the middle east.

The Durty Hussey, our dinner view, and our ¨dawning swim¨

La Rochelle and South Africa

Its are second day in La Rochelle and it has proven to be one of our favorite locations thus far. Yesterday a new ¨¨companion¨¨ Sean, the South African pirate of 26, joined us at the train station. After we popped into a cafe for lunch; we spent the whole day sitting and talking of jelly donuts. This might sound a bit lazy but we managed to sit at beautiful locations like the beach, the dock, and a ledge over looking the water. This morning we woke up early what South Africans like to call a ¨¨dawning swim¨¨ in the ocean. It was cold. Rumor has it that at the young age of 35 he will be retired, cruzing about the Mediterranean in a yatch known as the Durty Hussey. Our next trip seems to be set in stone. Sean, my China, you have been a hardy companion. Think of us over every stick of gum and burning rings of fire.

PICTURES FOR YOU

THIS IS FOR OUR BETTY:

Dear Betty, you know who you are, we miss yu so much and also wish you were here. we wanted to tell you a fun story of last night. After dining for three hours sipping on cider and sangrias we made our way back to our hotel with lightness of foot and laughter. Unbeknownst to us, it might have appeared that we were slightly soused (but we definitely werent). well, azs we walked in the concierge shh*d us in the lobby, up the stairs after laughs and ringed us twice in our room. She even threatened to kick us out. The good news is, as of right now, we are still sleeping in the same hotel tonight. If she only knew our evening plans consisted of knitting, french music videos, and a warm bath. She may have wanted to come join us.

Red is the color of France: Tonight we are in Dinan: known for being a medieval town: stone buildings all around us; but nothing here really besides pretty buildings: this morning we got up in Caen; got on the train to Bayeux which is an adorable town: (mom and dad hill it reminded me of a french delphi greece): we both got a croissant and cafe creme at a small cafe and watched the locals gather baguettes and fruit for the day: while the old ladies kissed french style and the locals greeted us with a bonjour; we were in heaven: we attempted to go to the dday beaches; but failed: apparently the a,erican beaches are next to impossible to get to without a car or tourguides which only take place' in the summer: oh well: after that; a failed atte,pt at finding mont st michel: after having some of our most thrilling endeavors cancelled {dday for anna and mont st michel for caitlin]; we realized life wasnt so bad; the best part of france is the food; we sat on the cliffs above the ww2 deportation beach and enjoyed some french baguettes; amazing cheese; and some grapes unlike anything we have ever tasted:delight: meow: i would like to take this time to shout out to camp hammer peeps 2007: tonight; weird but cool looking hostel: peace: send some love; we send ours: pics later we hope;;;maybe not: mwahaha

Getting Ready for France!

Bonjour!

We have been planning this trip all summer, and our departure date is right around the corner! We have our hostel/hotel reservations, our Rail pass, and backpacks to carry around all of France. Two days after our friend gets married, we're driving up to Seattle to fly out. From there, we have a quick layover in Detroit, then on to Paris! For those of you that would like to experience this adventure with us, we will posting blogs on this site regularly for you to read. We will also be posting updated pictures of our travels, as well as stories of our adventures along the way. Hopefully we will be able to update you on our trip every few days. In addition, we would love to receive comments and messages from you, our family and friends, on this website while we are in France. Thank you everyone who has helped us make this amazing trip a reality and helped build our excitement over the past many months!
